PA Consulting Group, the international management, systems and technology consultancy, today announces the appointment of Giles Beattie as a member of PA's management group within its project and programme management practice.
Mr Beattie joins PA with a view to gradually take over the role of Dr David Stupples, who will be retiring next year to take on an academic role as Professor of Systems Engineering at City University.
Mr Beattie has over twenty years' experience of providing and managing consultancy support in the defence, power generation and transport sectors. He has worked on projects as diverse as development of technology management strategies, prime contractor capability audits, dispute resolution and determination of the performance and life of complex systems capital and plant. He also brings his experience of prime contracting to PA having previously been the Systems Engineering Director for BAE SYSTEMS' £2B project to design, build and support three new Astute class nuclear submarines for the Royal Navy.
Mr Beattie comments: "I chose to join PA because of its strong reputation for implementation - it doesn't just stop at the strategy stage. I am also very impressed by PA's breadth and depth of capability. This capability is inherent in all PA's consultants and means that PA really can "make it happen" and client feedback confirms it. I will be building on a solid platform.'
Welcoming the new appointment, Jeremy Stanyard, head of PA's business transformation group, comments:
"Giles will add to our strength in complex, technical projects. I am very pleased that he has chosen to join PA."
Mr Beattie, a Chartered Engineer by background, joins PA from QuinetiQ (the new science and technology powerhouse formed from the major part of DERA, the British Government's elite defence research and development organisation).
