PA Consulting Group retained by Ireland's Commission for Energy Regulation to conduct a review of electricity trading arrangements, aimed at facilitating a competitive Irish electricity market - 18 November 2002

PA Consulting Group has been chosen by Ireland's Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) to review, develop and evaluate options for and to design final electricity trading arrangements. PA will assist CER in overseeing the implementation of these arrangements.

CER will, through this review, develop electricity trading arrangements that will shape the Irish electricity industry for decades to come. PA has been chosen to assist CER in identifying and addressing the specific demands of the Irish electricity market within the context of EU electricity market and industry reform. PA will draw on its experience in electricity markets around the world to find the best solution for Ireland.

This project builds on PA's earlier work in the establishment of the CER. We are excited to have the opportunity to work again with CER on this important review. PA will work closely with CER to develop electricity trading arrangements that are suited to the Irish electricity market and aimed at facilitating a sustainable competitive electricity market in Ireland.

The project was started in mid-October, with the design phase concluding in early 2003. PA will then assist the CER in implementing the selected design. PA brings wide-reaching capabilities to this project, including electricity market experts, IT experts, and other staff from around the globe working through PA's Dublin office. PA's team combines theoretical knowledge of electricity markets, extensive experience in many of the world's existing electricity markets, and practical experience in electricity market design and implementation.
