PA Consulting Group, a leading management, systems and technology consulting firm, with a major practice dedicated to the power sector announces the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with SP Power Economic Research Centre (SPEC). SPEC is a leading economic consultant in China that specialises in the power sector.
The memorandum means PA and SPEC will co-operate in marketing to the power sector in China and neighbouring countries, and PA will also provide training in consulting skills for SPEC. Mr Bruce Wickes from PA Consulting Group, Auckland, played a key role in the development of the concept. SPEC and PA have worked successfully together in two recent power industry studies in China.
PA is looking to expand its work in China and neighbouring countries and SPEC wishes to strengthen its marketability and knowledge base by association with a leading global consulting firm. PA will assist SPEC to commercialise its processes, assist in training its human resources personnel and develop its management systems to international standards for consulting businesses. This will further strengthen PA's capability to obtain Power Sector work from the International Aid agencies – World Bank, Asian Development Bank and European Development Bank.
The memorandum was developed following a visit by a delegation of SPEC management to Australia, New Zealand and the US in late 2000. Its signing took place on February 27 2001 in Beijing, China, by SPEC's leaders Mr Wang Xinmao and Mr Ge Zhengxiang and by Mr Ken Rubin, Manager of PA's Government Services Division, Washington, United States and Mr Bruce Wickes. Mr Wickes will manage the ongoing relationship.
